Information About Dublin Airport - Ireland
http://www.TravelsWithSheila.com
A torrential rain storm accompanied us as we took the Airlink 747 bus that left directly across our hotel to the Dublin Airport. What do you expect after two sunny, blue sky days? Told by United Airlines personnel that we had to check in three hours before the flight back to Newark, Steve and I arrived at 6a and discovered check-in counters don't open until two hours before the flight!
Dublin Airport is light, airy, and easy to get around. Travelers to the US are giving Customs Forms at check-in, go through security and then wait for US Customs Pre-clearance to open. I had never heard of any such thing and don't know if Dublin is the only airport to do this or if others in the EU Community also have a pre-clearance. However, once through, there is one more...

Dublin Airport, Ireland - BIM, BETTER INFORMATION MANAGEMENT (ENG)
Collaborative environments like BIM, which offer the possibility of creating operations models (digital twins), are tools with increasingly more powerful applications.
Dublin Airport has grown considerably over the last 20 years, which has meant that any infrastructure improvement plans have been implemented with the airport in operation.
In the Critical Taxiways project, a key task is defining the project’s phasing and the works execution programme, as the airport must remain operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year during the works on site. The design has been carried out in a BIM environment which has allowed collaborative working, scheduling of works and accurate cost estimates.
Recorded before the COVID-19 crisis.

However, once through, there is one more security where passengers identify their luggage on a monitor and you are considered entered into the United States; from that point, there is nowhere to go but to the gate.
Stay upstairs as long as possible before pre-clearing. There is a little coffee shop but nothing else in this area!
